Tam O’Shanter
Proposal
Under ordinary circumstances, if the proposal to develop the former Tam O’Shanter property were in full compliance with all applicable zoning regulations, the VRP would probably have no objection to it. However, the chemical contamination issues change everything. They go so far as to leave unclear what the most desirable outcome would be. It is a classic “rosebush” situation, no matter which way you try to get out, you get stuck with thorns.
In any event, a project of this magnitude deserves to be given a thorough study and analysis, with complete public transparency. We will contribute to that process by re-posting several documents that once appeared on the Village of Brookville’s website and various other relevant items that we may turn up from various sources. Check this space periodically.
Park
There is some interest in pushing the local municipalities to acquire the property as a park. We think this option is worth exploring. Contact us with your views on the subject. To be selected, this option will require a great deal of public support.
